Dedication 2011.
The Old Home Days committee dedicates this year’s Old Home Days booklet and festivities to the Newfield Historical Society. These hard working individuals have made it possible for us to know more about the history of Newfield. This year their efforts are especially appreciated as we celebrate Newfield’s bicentennial.
We hope you enjoy the article written by two members of the Historical Society. Alan Chaffee, President and Town Historian and Charlie Githler, Trustee, tell us about life as it was in Newfield 200 years ago. Each photo is from Archives Alive, which is a joint project of the Newfield Public Library and the Historical Society. Its mission is to collect, preserve and share the documents, photographs and treasures of historical significance to the town of Newfield. The collection is stored on the second floor of the Newfield Public Library and carefully maintained by Rosemary Rowland, Archivist and Deputy Historian.
Thank you to the Newfield Historical Society, Newfield Public Library, and Archives Alive! Collectively their efforts assure that future generations will have a record of the history of Newfield. To learn more you can visit their booth at Old Home Days on Saturday, September 10 or their website : http://newfieldhistoricalsociety.org/
